Yaudes, age 79, of RD 3, Tyrone and a guest at the Allegheny Lutheran Home died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at 12:12 p.m. at the Altoona Regional Health Systems, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born Nov. 30, 1926 in Hickory Bottom (Snyder Township), the son of Ernest and Myra Tice Yaudes. On Oct. 5, 1951 he was married to Margaret I. Hostler who survives. Also surviving are two children- William (Sue) Yaudes of Tyrone and Marlene Potts of RD 3, Tyrone; four grandchildren- Aaron Yaudes, Kari Yaudes, Lori Hall and Kimberly Potts and three great grandchildren- Cory, Darren and Casandra Hall. Also surviving are three sisters and a brother - Relda (Harvey) Park, RD 3; Vergie (Richard) DeSanto, Trout Run, PA; Leah (Leroy) Ray, RD 2 and Harold (Bonnie) Yaudes, RD 4. He was preceded in death by a brother Ernest and a sister Dorothy Gray. Mr. Yaudes was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1944. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving as a communication flagman in the American Theatre. He had been employed as a foreman in the flakeboard manufacturing operation of Westvaco with 24 years service and retired in 1989 as a courier for Consolidated Freight. He was a member of Howard Gardner Post #281 American Legion, Anderson Denny Post #4559 V.F.W., the Tyrone Sportsmen and the Bald Eagle Fire Company. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and doing small engine repair work and being with his neighbors. Funeral service for Harris W. Yaudes will be Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverend John Pine officiating. Interment will follow in Blair Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions in his memory are requested to the Blair County Unit of the American Cancer Society, 1004 N.
