Deceased was born in Cambria county, on July 16, 1843, and had resided in this vicinity for a period of thirty-three years. He was a veteran of the civil war, having served in company D, Twelfth Pennsylvania cavalry. He was employed in the shops at Fourth street. He was a member of the Church of God. He was married in 1868 to Sarah Jane Cochran, who survives, with these children: Mrs. Rose Plowman of Cross Keys, Mrs. Mary Ellen Walters, Mrs. Ida Belle Cook, Mrs. M. K. Notes, Mrs. Matilda B. Yon, Mrs. Alice M. Wilson, George W., Harvey J. and Jonathan M. Yingling. Funeral services at the Fairview Methodist church at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. Interment in Grandview cemetery.
