Yingling, 1865-1955. WILLIAM J. YINGLING Of Hollidaysburg RD 1 died at the home of a daughter Mrs. Philip Schreiber of Broad Avenue extension, at 12:20 o'clock yesterday noon. He was born Oct 8, 1865 at Blue Knob, a son of Joseph A. and Katherine Ann (Glass) Yingling and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic church. Mrs. Yingling was a farmer in his early years and in 1907 went to work for the Pennsylvania railroad at the westbound shop as a car repairman, retiring in 1937. He married Mary Walter in 1888 at Huntingdon, Mrs. Yingling preceded him in death Dec 24, 1945. Surviving are the following children; Jacob of Roaring Spring, Howard, Roy and Mrs. Clifford Campbell of RD1, Hollidaysburg, Charles of East Freedom RD, Mrs. Laura Smith of Newry, Mrs. Warren McKall of Palo Alto, Calif., Homer, Russell and Beatrice of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Schreiber and Marion of the Kettle road. One daughter preceded him in death. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 31 great- grandchildren, one brother and three sisters: Charles and Mrs. Katherine Dodson of East Freedom, Mrs. Mary Evans of Hollidaysburg and Mrs. Margaret Powers of Bellwood. YINGLING Wife of William Jacob Yingling, died this morning at 1:10 o'clock at her home at Loop, Hollidaysburg RD 1. She was a daughter of Jacob and Eliza (Wright) Walter and was born in Greenfield township, Aug 30, 1871 and was united in marriage with Mr. Yingling in New Jersey on Nov 17, 1888. Surviving are the husband and these children; Jacob of Roaring Spring, Homer of Roaring Spring RD, Howard of Loop, Roy Yingling and Miss Ida Yingling, both of Altoona, Charles of East Freedom, Mrs. Clifford Campbell of Hollidaysburg RD 1, Mrs. Clyde Smith of Newry, Russell of Hollidaysburg and Mrs. Warren Mackall of California and 31 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. One daughter is deceased. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church in Hollidaysburg. Friends will be received at the home. Interment in the Presbyterian cemetery, Hollidaysburg. He was born at Blue Knob April 7, 1892, a son of William J. and Mary (Walter) Yingling and was married to Elda Ray in 1921. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Donald R. at home and Gerald L. of Roaring Spring RD, three grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Howard, Roy and Mrs. Eva Campbell of Hollidaysburg RD 1, Russell and Homer of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Effie Mackal of Burbank, Calif., Mrs. Ida Schreider of Altoona, Mrs. Laura Smith of Newry and Charles B. of East Freedom RD1. Mr. Yingling was a member of the Roaring Spring Church of the Brethren and was a past commander of Murray-Appleman Post, American Legion, Roaring Spring. He also was a member of Ray-Camp Post, V.F.W., Woodbury Lodge, F & A.M. Williamsport Consistory and Friendship Fire Company, Roaring Spring. She was born at Roaring Spring on Sept 27, 1898, a daughter of John B. and Ellen (Herron) Ray and was married to Jacob Yingling in 1922. He died on Jan 5. Surviving are two sons, Gerald L. of Roaring Spring and Donald R, at home; three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Clapper of Roaring Spring and Miss Elsie Ray of Hollidaysburg. YINGLING 94, of Box 192, Hollidaysburg RD1, Loop Station, died at 11:05 p.m. Monday, May 1, 1989 at Van Zandt VA Medical Center, following an extended illness. Known as Joe, Mr. Yingling retired from the P.R.R. East Altoona Roundhouse, after 41 years' service. He owned and operated Yingling's Service Station, Loop Station. He was born Sept 13, 1894, in Blue Knob, the son of William and Mary (Walter) Yingling and June 16, 1921, married Susan E. Dively, who died Oct 24, 1972. Surviving are seven children: Clair W. of Loop Station, Kathryn J. Clapper and Ray A. of Hollidaysburg, I. Luetta Grove of Phoenix, Ariz., Bette J. Smith of Duncansville and Joan L. and Leo C. at home, 21 grandchildren, 32 great- grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister and brother: Effie C. Monet of Mountain View, Calif., and Homer of Hollidaysburg. Preceded in death by a daughter, Lois M. Dodson. Mr. Yingling was a life member of the Roaring Spring VFW. She was born May 31, 1900 at Blue Knob, a daughter of Charles and Margaret C. (Mapes) Dively, and married Howard E. Yingling on June 16, 1921. Surviving are her husband, eight children, Leo of Duncansville, Clair of Hollidaysburg RD, Mrs. Kathryn Klapper of Sylvan Hills, Mrs. Lois Dodson of Roaring Spring RD, Ray of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Luetta P. Grove of Phoenix, Ariz., and Joan and Bette, at home; 19 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Yingling had been self-employed for many years, having operated a general store at Loop Station. She was [a] member of the First Baptist Church, Hollidaysburg. He was born in Claysburg Dec 11, 1896, a son of William and Mary (Walter) Yingling and married Geraldine Conrad, in Cumberland, Md., Jan. 10, 1936. Surviving are his wife, two children: Mrs. Hazel Malony of East Freedom and Carl of Hollidaysburg RD1; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and 10 brothers and sisters, Mrs. Eva Campbell of Hollidaysburg RD, Mrs. Ida Schreiber, Miss Beatrice and Marion of Altoona, Mrs. Effie Mackall of Palo Alto, Calif., Howard of Loop Station, Charles of East Freedom, Russell and Homer of Hollidaysburg and Mrs. Laura Smith of Newry. Mr. Yingling was a member of the Claysburg Reformed Church. A veteran of World War I, he was a life member of the Roaring Spring American Legion. She was born Nov 5, 1912, in Newry, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Weyant) Conrad. She married Roy Dick Yingling Jan 10, 1936 in Cumberland, Md. He died Feb 24, 1970. Mrs. Yingling was formerly employed as a cook at PennDOT, Hollidaysburg. Surviving are a daughter, Hazel Malone of Hollidaysburg, a son Carl of Reservoir, two brothers: Donald "Monk" of Altoona and William "Whitie" of Brian OH., three grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. She was born July 30, 1899, in Freedom Township, the daughter of William J. and Mary (Walter) Yingling, and May 25, 1926 in Lewistown, married Clifford Campbell, who died Feb 28, 1979. Surviving are three children: Robert L. of Maple Hollow, Blaine R. of Reservoir and Mrs. Helen Dell of Duncansville, nine grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers and sisters: Howard of Loop Station, Charles of East Freedom, Mrs. Effie Monet of Mt. View, Calif., and Russell and Homer of Hollidaysburg. Altoona Mirror, 3-15-1982 Retired Boilermaker CLIFFORD CAMPBELL 92, of Reservoir, Hollidaysburg RD1, Box 328, a retired railroad boilermaker, died at 3:10 a.m. today, Feb 28, 1979, in Mercy Hospital, after an extended illness. Mr. Campbell retired as a boilermaker from the PRR in 1948, after 44 years' service. He was a veteran of World War I, having served with the Army Engineers. He attended the Reservoir Bible Church. He was born Sept. 8, 1886, in Reservoir, the son of Albert and Susan (Ritz) Campbell and May 25, 1926, in Lewistown, married Eva F. Yingling. YINGLING 82, of East Freedom died unexpectedly at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 1984, in the home of his son, Paul, in East Freedom. Mr. Yingling retired from General Refractories, Claysburg plant, in 1964 after 23 years' service. He was born March 31, 1902, in Blue Knob, the son of William Jacob and Mary (Walter) Yingling and Aug 31, 1923 in Cumberland Md. married Ester Walter, who died Nov 25, 1983. Surviving are two sons: Orville and Paul of East Freedom, 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister: Howard and Homer of Hollidaysburg and Effie Monet of Mount View, Calif. Mr. Yingling was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Claysburg. Surviving are seven children: Cloid H. SMITH Aged 39, of Newry, died at the Altoona Hospital at 9:14 a.m. Saturday, Dr. Daniel M. Replogle, coroner, said last night, of a ruptured blood vessel, apparently brought on by lifting. Mr. Smith had been engaged in seating a column on the foundation at the Stroehmann bakery addition at the time he became ill and was admitted to the hospital Friday afternoon at 12:15 o'clock. He was born March 1, 1905, a son of Harvey and Junie Etta Smith and was a member of the Newry Lutheran church and the Masons. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Laura (Yingling) Smith and the following children: Cloid jr., Dennis, Marietta, Marlene, Leona, and Lenora, at home; the father and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Edward Peck, Luther, and Theodore, of Newry, Joseph of Wilkinsburg, Russell of Braddock, Chalmer of Baltimore, Md., and Lloyd of Hollidaysburg. Mr. Yingling retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1973, after more than 40 years service. He was born Dec 25, 1908 in Brookes Mills, the son of William J. and Mary (Walter) Yingling. Surviving are three brothers and sister: Howard E. Loop Station, Charles B. of East Freedom RD and Effie Monet of Mount View, Calif. and Homer of Hollidaysburg, and a number of nieces and nephews. Schreiber at home and eight brothers and sisters: Howard of Loop Station, Mrs. Eva Campbell of Reservoir, Charles of East Freedom, Mrs. Effie Monet of Los Altos, Calif., Russ and Homer of Hollidaysburg and Miss Beatrice and Marion of Altoona. Mr. Schreiber was born March 10, 1889, in Connellsville, a son of Leo and Josephine (Haas) Schreiber and married Ida Yingling who died in 1974. Surviving are a son Ronald, with whom he resided, five brothers and sisters; Edward, William, Mrs. Margaret Carney and Mrs. Leona Elden, all of Altoona and Paul of Sacramento, Calif.
