Mrs. Elizabeth Young, wife of Peter Young, a highly esteemed and respected resident of the Eighth ward, died at her home, 506 Fourth avenue, at 10 o'clock last night, of a complication of diseases after an illness of several weeks. Deceased's maiden name was Elizabeth Westnitzer and she was born in Bavaria, Germany, December 6, 1840. She came to America with her parents, Lorenz and Elizabeth Westnitzer, who settled at St. Mary's, Elk county. Later they removed to Carrolltown, Cambria county, and in 1864 from there to Hollidaysburg. She wedded Mr. Young fifty-three years ago and to this union were born two sons - Edward W., of 304 Third avenue, and Francis S. Young, of 320 Third avenue, and three daughters, Mrs. Leonard Miller, of 1009 Lexington avenue; Mrs. P. F. Dalton, of 506 Fourth avenue; and Mrs. O. D. Plummer, of Llyswen. She was a most devoted wife and mother. She was also a devout member of St. Mark's Roman Catholic church and an upright and earnest Christian woman, always striving to bring sunshine to the lives of others. She enjoyed the esteem of a wide circle of friends in the community in which she lived and throughout the city. Funeral services will be held in St. Mark's church at 8:30 Monday morning, high requiem mass to be celebrated by Rev. James B. Egan, rector. Interment will follow in St. Mary's cemetery.
