YOUNG A lifelong resident of Duncansville and vicinity, died at his home at 514 West Fourteenth street, Duncansville, this morning at 8 o'clock, death being attributed to bronchial pneumonia contracted only a few days ago. Mr. Young suffered a fall last Sunday a week ago in which he received fractures of several ribs and the development of pneumonia followed. Mr. Young observed his 81st natal day last Sunday, being born on Feb. 4, 1859, a son of Jacob and Mary Isett Young. He was united in marriage with Mary Smith at East Freedom on Jan. 12, 1888, and to this union fifteen children were born, thirteen of whom survive, with the wife, as follows: Mrs. Ethel Hanley and William I. Young of Duncansville, Mrs. Cora Olive of Leedstown, Va., Miss Marjorie Walter of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Ruth Kesser of Washington, D.C., Agnes Young of Newberry, Ind., Dorothy Young of Atlantic City, Luther, Beatrice, Helen, Maud, Hector and Paul, all at home. Mr. Young was the last of his immediate family except a half-brother and half-sister, Orlando Young of Foot of Ten, west of Duncansville, and Mrs. Charlotte Woolridge of Plane 10. Fifteen grandchildren also survive. Mr. Young at one time was employed at the Altoona freight station but in recent years was engaged in trucking and working about Duncansville. He always took an active part in civic affairs. Altoona Mirror, February 7, 1940
