All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ SAMUEL YOUNG Samuel Young, one of the oldest Civil war veterans of the city, a man who fought for the preservation of the union in the whole four years of the great rebellion, died at the home of his son Samuel, jr., 2907 Eighth avenue, at 11:30 o'clock yesterday morning, of infirmities of age. He was born June 29, 1826, in this vicinity and was a wheel-moulder by trade. He retired twenty years ago. In the war, he served in company A, Forty-fifth regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was a member of the Church of God, having joined it fifty years ago, when it was organized. He was also a member of post No. 62, Grand Army of the Republic. Four sons survive: Samuel, Albert, William and George, all of this city. The funeral announcement will be made later. Altoona Tribune 25 March 1912
