Local Couple Wed at Rites Miss Joanne Ruth Sell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray D. Sell of 2429 Broad avenue, became the bride of John King Beach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Beach of 223 East First avenue, in the First Brethren church on Saturday evening, June 12, at 8.30 o'clock. Rev. R. L. Rossman officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin with a sweetheart neckline and a fingertip veil falling from a Juliet cap. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and red roses. Miss Margaret L. Beach, sister of the bridegroom, was the bridesmaid attired in a gown of pink taffeta and a pink veil held by a coronet of pink flowers. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink roses. The best man was Richard C. Beach, brother of the bridegroom, and the ushers were Robert Tyler. uncle of the bride, and Joseph Beach, cousin of the bridegroom. Miss Carol M. Sell, sister of the bride, was soloist, singing "The Sweetest Story Ever Told," "Because" and while the couple knelt at the altar, she sang "Beneath the Cross of Jesus," accompanied by Mrs. Edith Johnson at the organ who also played the traditional wedding marches. The mother of the bride chose a black figured dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The mother of the bridegroom selected a poudre blue dress with navy accessories and a corsage of red roses. Mrs. Margaret Sell, grandmother of the bride, was attired in a green figured dress with white accessories and a corsage of red roses. The church was decorated with peonies, roses and mixed flowers. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church basement for 100 guests. Out of town guests were present from Martinsburg, Roaring Spring, Bellwood, New Enterprise, Ohio and New York. The couple left for a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and Canada. They are residing at the home of the bride. The bride is a graduate of Altoona High school, class of 1948, and is employed at the Puritan Knitting mills.
