M. Giles, 107 Fifteenth street, was the scene of a very pretty wedding. The house was beautifully decorated for the occasion with plants and flowers, and as it was a white wedding, white roses and white chrysanthemums predominated [sic]. The contracting parties were Mr. Charles Rhodes Bell, son of the late Dr. Walter Bell, and Miss Lettie Giles, one of Altoona's charming young ladies. Promptly at 8 o'clock the bride and groom, unattended, presented themselves at the nuptial altar to the strains of "Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin, rendered by Miss Lulu Yoder, a cousin of the groom. Rev. J. Ellis Bell, pastor of the Eighth Avenue Methodist church, performed the ceremony, which was witnessed by thirty couples of relatives and friends. The bride is a young lady widely known throughout the city. Being possessed of many rare qualities, she is fitted to make the home of her husband a happy one. Mr. Bell is a machinist in the employ of the railroad company. The presents received by the happy couple were both numerous and costly. The groom presented the bride with a beautiful piano. After the ceremony a wedding supper was served by Caterer Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Bell will take an extended tour through the west and on their return will reside with the groom's mother, Mrs. Walter Bell, 1115 Third avenue. Altoona Mirror, October 3, 1895, page 8
