CASSIDY [photo] SHIRLEY ULSH IS BRIDE OF H. R. CASSIDY In a charming summer ceremony in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic church, Miss Shirley Mary Ulsh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Ulsh of 5511 Montrose avenue, became the bride of Herbert Ray Cassidy, son of Mrs. Linnie and the late Martin B. Cassidy of 2908 Sixth avenue, on Saturday morning, June 26, at 10.30 o'clock. Rev. Father William M. Griffin officiated at the nuptial mass. The altar flowers were bouquets of mixed flowers and the boys' choir sang the mass. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white slipper satin with an off-the-shoulder bertha of imported Alencon lace, a short train, and long sleeves that pointed over the wrist. Her fingertip veil fell from a heart-shaped tiara in bonnet style. She carried a white prayer book and white carnations with a shower of white ribbon and white carnation buds and fern. Mrs. Pauline Lockard Turchetta was matron of honor attired in a gown of turquoise blue marquisette with matching gloves. She wore a pink lace bonnet trimmed with turquoise and carried pink and white carnations with showers of pink ribbons. Vincent Turchetta was best man and the ushers were James Wood, D. Kenneth Weaver, Jack Walters and William Ulsh, a brother of the bride. The mother of the bride wore a gown of sheer navy blue print with white accessories and a corsage of red carnations. The mother of the bridegroom wore a navy blue print dress with navy accessories and a corsage of red carnations. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents for the immediate families and close friends of the couple. The house was decorated with orange blossoms, white roses and white cushion mums. On Friday evening the bride and bridegroom entertained their attendants at the Altoona hotel, where gifts were presented to all. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a new car. Out-of-town guests were present among the 200 at the ceremony from Pittsburgh, Lewistown and Huntingdon. The couple left for a wedding trip through the eastern part of the state. For traveling the bride wore an orchid gabardine suit with white accessories. They will be at home in Shippensburg where the bridegroom is a student at Shippensburg State Teachers college. Mr. Cassidy is a graduate of Altoona High school, class of 1943, attended Duke university and served in the army for three years. He was a prisoner of the Germans for five months and was awarded the Bronze Start. Mrs. Cassidy was graduated from Altoona High school in 1943 and is a member of Altoona Catholic sorority.
