WILLIS DIBERT [photo] Claysburg Girl is Wed The Church of the Brethren in Claysburg was the scene of a lovely double-ring ceremony performed by candlelight when Miss Betty Weyandt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Weyandt of Claysburg, became the bride of Mr. Willis L. Dibert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Dibert of Claysburg on Saturday evening, June 12, at 8 o'clock. Rev. Charles L. Cox, pastor of the church, officiated. Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Edith Cox, church pianist, played a reverie, "Garden of Dreams," after which she accompanied Mr. William P. Jones who sang "I Love You Truly." As the bridal party approached the altar Mrs. Cox played "The Bridal chorus" from "Lohengrin" on the vibraharp. The couple recited their vows before an altar decorated with white peonies and mock orange, after which Mr. Jones sang "The Lord's Prayer." The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a white chiffon gown designed with an inset of puffed alencon lace around the yolk which gave it an off the shoulder effect. The sleeves were long and trimmed with puffed alencon lace. Alencon lace edged her heirloom veil of white net which was held in a tiara of white rhinestones. She carried an arm bouquet of white carnations. Mrs. Leland Whysong, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. She was attired in a gown of light blue chiffon with puffed sleeves, molded bodice and off the shoulder neckline. She carried an arm bouquet of pink carnations. Hong Ham Goon, originally from China but now located in New York city, acted as best man, while the ushers were William Weyandt, brother of the bride, and Joe Dibert, brother of the groom. The flower girl, little Miss Patsy Dibert niece of the groom, wore a pink gown with puffed sleeves and round neckline and carried a basket of assorted flowers, some of which she scattered in the path of the bride. Paul Lingenfelter served as ring bearer, carrying the rings on a white satin pillow edged in nylon lace. The bride's step-mother wore a gray dress with white accessories and the bridegroom's mother wore a black dress with black accessories. Each wore corsages of red roses. The bridegroom presented the bride with a pink coral and rhinestone necklace. The bride's gift to the matron of honor was rhinestone ear rings, the flower girl received a bracelet and the ring bearer a bathing suit while the pianist received a brooch. The bridegroom presented the best man with a wallet and the ushers and soloist received neckties and handkerchiefs. A reception was held at the home of the bride with approximately one hundred guests attending. The bride is a graduate of Claysburg High school, class of 1945, and the Altoona School of Commerce, class of 1946, and is now employed by the State Department of Public assistance in Altoona. The bridegroom is employed by the General Refractories company of Claysburg and is a member of the Marine Reserve unit of Altoona. The newlyweds took a wedding trip to Atlantic city and Ocean city, accompanied by their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jewett who were also on their wedding trip.
