HALE [photo] EUB Church is Scene of Rites Miss Edna Dolores Heim, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Joseph Heim of 1512 Second avenue, became the bride of Melvin Roy Hale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sylvester Hale of R.D. 2, Box 57B, Altoona, in the Second Avenue Evangelical United Brethren church on Saturday morning, July 12, at 10.30 o'clock. Rev. Max M. Houser officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Dorothy E. Heim, sister-in-law of the bride, was soloist. She sang "In the Garden of Tomorrow," "Because," and as the couple knelt at the altar, "The Lord's Prayer." She was accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Melvin Irvin. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a lovely street- length dress of white floral design, a white picture hat and white accessories. She wore a corsage of white roses. Mrs. Alma Hunter, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, attired in a pink crepe street-length dress, a small starched lace hat with white accessories and a corsage of red roses. The best man was Charles Heim, brother of the bride and the ushers were James Maher and Meredith Fetters. The mother of the bride chose a navy blue dress with gold accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. The mother of the bridegroom was attired in a pale blue dress with blue accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. At 2.30 o'clock in the afternoon a reception was held at the home of the bride for 100 guests. The bride is employed by the Altoona Rayon and Weaving mill and the bridegroom is employed by Altoona Factories, Inc. Altoona Mirror, Friday, August 13, 1948, page 19
