Cards of invitation are out for the wedding of Mr. Byron D. Jackson and Miss Minnie A. Miller, this evening at the residence of the bride's parents, Eighth avenue and Fourteenth street. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday, September 8, 1880 A Happy Event Last Evening. Last evening a pleasant event occurred on Eighth avenue, corner of Fourteenth street, it being the uniting in nuptial bonds of Byron D. Jackson and Miss Minnie Miller, daughter of Mr. J. L. Miller, an old and respected citizen of our town. At 8 o'clock sharp, the wedding couple, followed by Misses Annie Kirk, of Philadelphia, and Maggie Drummond, of New York city, acting as bridesmaids, and Messrs. William Knepper and Thomas Rutherford, groomsmen, entered the elegantly furnished parlor, where the large number of invited guests were seated awaiting the typing of the "gordian knot." Rev. Dr. Hamlin, in a very impressive manner, united the young couple in matrimony, and cautioned them of the troubles of life. Supper was then announced and the TRIBUEN reporter being invited to look at the table smole [sic] a smile when he observed such good things as chicken, turkey, cakes, pies, fruits, nuts, etc., and in abundance. About the time the guests were enjoying themselves the Citizens' Band called and gave a delightful serenade, followed, as a matter of course, by the "calithumpians." They were invited in and partook of supper. After the repast was finished Miss Maggie Drummond, of New York city, favored the assembled guests with some elegantly rendered operatic gems, for which the handsome young lady was heartily encored. The bride and groom received many costly and handsome presents. The TRIBUNE returns thanks for a large and elegant cake, and wishes the young couple a long life and a happy one.
