W. D. Howard, Mr. Thomas G. Johnston, of Philadelphia, formerly of Hollidaysburg, to Miss Estelle Liggett, of Allegheny City. The Register, Hollidaysburg, Pa., Wednesday, December 23, 1874 JOHNSTON - LIGGETT - at 8 o'clock on the evening of Dec. 18, 1874, by the Rev. Dr. Howard, at the residence of the bride's parents, in the city of Allegheny, Mr. Thomas G. Johnston to Miss Estelle Liggett. The wedding was all, and more than most exacting could ask; youth and beauty reigned supreme, and midst the crowd, composed of the choice of the land, the beautiful bride carried off the palm; Misses Lottie, and Sue Miller were the bridesmaids, and Will Hurley and Pete Duncan, the groomsmen. "The drowsy ear of night was vexed with mirth" and revelry; and joy and happiness were unrestrained. "In the wee sma' hours, "the dancing ceased" and each went off their sev'ral way." The newly wedded pair, together with their bridesmaids and groomsmen, took the advice of the late lamented Horace Greeley, and went west, spending a couple of days in Chicago. They honored our "ancient village" with their presence, for a few days, and we must say that a brighter, sweeter, prettier bride never tripped along our pavements, Tom looks as though married life agreed with him, and has love and devotion stamped upon every lineament of his countenance. Ah! Tom, thou has a bonny bride! Thy love, and thy devotion, is not misplaced. Cherish her nunc et semper, for thou hast a jewel above all price - a good wife - that thy days may be long, and thy voyage through the rough billows of life, with her for thy companion, be smooth and peaceful, is the sincere wish of your many friends.
