That Cupid can still keep confidence with those he has smitten was demonstrated when Mr. Harmon Daniel Malone, of Hollidaysburg, and Miss Florence Gertrude Detwiler, of Gaysport, two of our twin boroughs' popular young people, surprised their friends by announcing yesterday that they had been united in marriage at 9:30 Tuesday evening. The ceremony was performed by Rev. E. E. Harter in the parlor of the Methodist Episcopal parsonage on South Wayne street. Mr. Malone is a locomotive engineer in the employ of the P.R.R., but today enters the Pittsburg university to train for active war service with Uncle Sam. After the war Mr. Malone will re-enter the employ of the P.R.R. and they will reside in Hollidaysburg. Altoona Tribune, Thursday morning, August 15, 1918, page 3
