Two of Altoona's estimable young people not desiring to endure the publicity of getting out a license allowing them to be married, in accordance with the new law of the state, hied themselves to Camden, New Jersey, and on Saturday last were married in that city, returning to Altoona on the following evening. The bride was Miss Emma Closson, daughter of Passenger Conductor James Closson, and the groom was Mr. W. P. Montgomery, a popular young gentleman who is a machinist in the employ of the company. The newly married couple are now receiving the congratulations of their many friends. New Jersey threatens to become a very popular state with young people who do not take kindly to the new marriage law. Altoona Tribune, November 19, 1885
