One of the most notable home weddings that has taken place in the little town of Newry for a long time was solemnized at high noon at the residence of Mr. David Leighty, in the presence of a goodly number of guests, when Mr. Irvin W. Oldham and Miss Ida May Leighty were united in marriage. The bridesmaid was Miss Minnie Oldham, sister of the groom. Elmer Harris, of Roaring Spring, was best man. Rev. A. H. Shertz, of the Lutheran church, performed the ceremony. After the ceremony the newly wedded couple received the congratulations and good wishes of their many friends. An elegant dinner was then partaken of. The presents were numerous and beautiful. The guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Yeckly, Mrs. T. Mash, Mr. and Mrs. Stiffler, Mr. and Mrs. Hoover, Mr. and Mrs. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Shaw, Miss Rosa Diehl, Miss B. Boose, Miss Glunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Buckle and daughter, Newry; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace, Miss Stiffler, Misses Mary and Clara Hill, of Duncansville; Mrs. Leighty and daughter of Poplar Run; Mrs. Lawrence, Mrs. Kate Barnhart, Beaver Falls; Mrs. Oldham and son, Newry; Mr. Elmer Harris, Roaring Spring; Miss Minnie Oldham, Altoona, and Mr. Edward Leighty.
