The First English Lutheran church was the scene of a happy gathering yesterday, when Miss Edith Irene Gates became the wife of Rev. J. Mervine Ross, of Bellville. The auditorium of the church was well filled with the many friends of the bride and groom. At 2 o'clock Miss Margaret Hiller played "A Perfect Day" and, preceding the bridal chorus from Lohengrin Miss Maree VanScoyoc sang "O Promise Me." Rev. J. P. Miller, pastor of the Lutheran church, performed the beautiful ring ceremony. Mendelssohn's Wedding March was played as a recessional. The bride, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac A. Gates, of East Eleventh street, is a young lady of many excellent accomplishments and is one of Tyrone's most estimable young women. Her husband is pastor of the Lutheran church of Bellville, Mifflin county, and a young man of sterling character. Following the ceremony the bride and groom drove to their home in Bellville, where a reception was held at the parsonage last evening. The bride was the recipient of many beautiful and useful gifts. A large circle of friends join in wishing the young couple a life of happiness. Altoona Tribune, Thursday Morning, March 20, 1919
