PERSONAL NOTES.

  Cards are out announcing the approaching marriage of Miss Luma Lura, 
daughter of Mrs. Luther F. Smith, of Hollidaysburg, to Dr. Charles 
Rowan, of Pittsburg.  The ceremony will be performed at the Methodist 
church at Hollidaysburg, at noon Friday, January 12, 1900.

HOLLIDAYSBURG HAPPENINGS.

  The marriage of Miss Luma Lura, eldest daughter of Mrs. Emma Smith, 
of Hollidaysburg, and Dr. Charles Rowan, of Aetna, Allegheny county, 
was solemnized in the Methodist Episcopal church, of this place, at 
high noon yesterday.
  The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. S. Bowman, pastor of the 
church.  A large number of invited guests and relatives was present.  
Miss Mada Smith, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Mr. Harry 
I. Davis was groomsman.  The following little misses were flower girls: 
Misses Helen Smith, Sarah Woodcock and Alice Glessner Smith, all of 
Hollidaysburg, and Miss Dorothy Leilich, of Harrisburg.  Mendelsohn's 
and Lohengrin's wedding marches were played by Miss Martha Bowman, of 
Hollidaysburg.  The bride was attired in a traveling costume of brown 
broadcloth and carried a large bouquet of bride's roses.  The maid of 
honor wore tan broadcloth and carried pink and white carnations, and 
the little flower girls wore white dresses with large white hats to 
match.  The ushers were Messrs. Clifford Hughes, John Humes and 
Denniston Hartman, of Hollidaysburg, and Dr. Guy Robb, of Altoona.  The 
bride was given away by her uncle, Rev. J. L. Leilich, pastor of St. 
Paul's Methodist Episcopal church, of Harrisburg, Pa.
  Dr. and Mrs. Rowan departed on a wedding tour of the eastern cities, 
and upon their return will make their home in Aetna.
  The bride is a daughter of the late Rev. Luther F. Smith, former 
pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Hollidaysburg.  She is a 
cultured and refined young woman, a graduate of the Hollidaysburg 
public schools, of the Hollidaysburg Ladies' seminary, and formerly a 
teacher in the public schools of Juniata.  For the past three months 
she has been studying elocution at Temple college, in Philadelphia.  
The groom is a rising young physician of Aetna, and is in every way 
worthy of the bride of his choice.
