A very pleasant and notable social event was the marriage on Thursday evening last at the bride's home, Bancroft's Mills, near Newry, of Mr. Samuel T. Shaw, of Freedom township, and Miss Lena Bancroft. The magic words that made the twain one were pronounced by Rev. J. W. Henderson, pastor of the Newry Lutheran church. A large company of relatives and friends from Newry and the surrounding country, as well as from Altoona, Hollidaysburg and other places, enlivened the ceremony and at its close enjoyed a bountiful and appeasing repast. Many elegant gifts were bestowed upon the bride. The groom is one of Freedom township's most excellent young citizens, a farmer by occupation, and has the respect of all who know him. His bride is an excellent young lady and will make a model wife. All the people out that way join the TRIBUNE in wishing the newly wedded pair a long and happy life. They will go to housekeeping at once on Mr. Shaw's farm in Freedom township. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., January 7, 1886
