An interesting society note is the announce[ment] of the marriage on Thursday night of this week of Miss Blanche Brua, of this place, and Mr. Irwin Smith, of Frankstown township. The ceremony will be performed at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brua, on the southwest corner of Allegheny and Wayne streets, by Rev. Dr. Barron, of the Presbyterian church. Altoona Tribune, March 7, 1889 HOLLIDAYSBURG. On Thursday evening last at the hour of 7:30 o'clock at the home of the bride's father Mr. Jacob Brua, Mr. Irwin Smith, son of Mr. Thomas Smith, of Frankstown township, and Miss Blanche Brua, were united in marriage. The interesting ceremony was performed by Rev. Dr. D. H. Barron, of the Presbyterian church, in the presence of between forty and fifty of the relatives and friends of the bride and groom. The bride was handsomely and tastefully attired and received the cordial congratulations, which were showered upon her, with becoming modesty. Soon after the conclusion of the impressive ceremony which united two hearts in one, the guests retired to a brilliantly lighted dining room, where a sumptuous wedding feast awaited them. It was prepared in the highest style of the caterers art by Mr. and Mrs. Brown, of the Union restaurant, and all did ample justice to the well prepared viands of which there was an abundance. The happy bride, besides hearing hearty and cordial congratulations, was the recipient of many beautiful and useful presents. The newly wedded couple after a very enjoyable evening, departed on the 10 o'clock train for a short trip to the east. They will visit Baltimore, Washington, New York and other places of interest.
