STEVENS Couple Wed In Church Rites Miss Iva Mae Shirley Sommer, daughter of Mrs. Blanche Sommer of R. D. 1. Altoona, became the bride of Arthur Gerald Stevens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stevens of R. D 1, Altoona, in the First Brethren church at Maple avenue and Thirtieth street on Sunday afternoon, June 20, at 3.30 o'clock. Rev. P. J. Simmons of Juniata performed the double-ring ceremony. The church was decorated with ferns, palms, baskets of gladiola, delphinium, white roses and white iris. Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Johnson gave an organ recital and Doreen Johnson sang "Always" and "O Promise Me." During the service Mrs. Johnson played wedding music. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, George Sommer, wore a gown of cream-colored satin with a train and a fingertip veil. She carried white roses and sweet peas. Mrs. Eileen Logan, sister-in-law of the bride, wore a yellow gown and carried yellow delphinium, and Miss Arlene Sommer, sister of the bride, wore a pink gown with pink delphinium. Miss Joyce Simmons of Juniata was flower girl and Teddy Norton of Tipton was the ringbearer. The best man was Joseph Nedimyer of Bellwood and the ushers were Raymond King of East Juniata and William Shoemaker of Altoona. Following the ceremony a dinner and a reception was held at the home of the bride. Guests were present from Cresaptown, Md., Tyrone, Altoona, Juniata, Tennessee, Tipton and Bellwood. The bride is it graduate of Altoona High school, class of 1947, and is employed at the Altoona Rayon and Weaving mill. The bridegroom is a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High school and is employed at the Altoona Rayon and Weaving mill. The newlyweds are at home in their 3-room apartment at the bride's home, R.
