Olewine of 209 South Second street, became the bride of Mr. Howard Ross Walter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Walter of 2124 Eighth avenue, with Rev. Robert E. Crawford, pastor of the church, officiating and using the single ring ceremony. The church was beautifully decorated with a large basket of gladioli, palms, cut flowers and asters and the ceremony was performed against a candle-lit background. Music included the traditional processional and recessional wedding marches played by Mrs. Crawford on the piano and vocal solos by Mrs. James T. Maurer, "The Sunshine of Your Smile," "Because," and a special adaptation of "Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us." accompanied by Mrs. Crawford. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was charming in a salute blue dress with navy blue accessories and hat and a corsage of pink roses. Her maid of honor, Miss Evelyn Sickles, was lovely in a soldier blue suit with black accessories. The best man was Mr. Harry J. Olewine, jr., brother of the bride, and ushers were Messrs. Edwin Way and James Meck. The bride's mother chose a dark brown dress with brown accessories and a yellow rose corsage and the bridegroom's mother selected a blue street dress with a deep red corsage. A reception was held in the church fellowship room which was decorated with garden flowers. Both the bride and bridegroom are graduates of Altoona High school, the bridegroom in 1939 and the bride in 1942. Mr. Walter is employed in the shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad company.
