GEORGE WEHRLE [photo] Miss Quirin Becomes Bride St. Leo's Catholic church was the scene of a double-ring ceremony, Saturday morning. June 19, at 9 o'clock when Miss Helen Josephine Quirin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Quirin of 2007 Twelfth avenue became the bride of George E. Wehrle, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wehrle of 317 Twenty-seventh avenue. The ceremony was performed prior to a nuptial high mass celebrated by Rev. Father John P. Manning. The altars were decked with white and yellow flowers and palms. Present in the sanctuary was his excellency Most Rev. Richard T. Guilfoyle, bishop of Altoona diocese. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of embroidered net, with fingertip length veil and carried a white missal with an orchid with ribbon streamers and lilies of the valley. Mrs. Marguerite Deibert, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a lime marquisette gown with large picture hat and mitts to match and carried an arm bouquet. James Jones, friend of the bridegroom, served as best man. The ushers were Francis Quirin, brother of the bride and Thomas Harmon, friend of the bridegroom. Following the ceremony a breakfast was served at the Penn-Alto hotel for the immediate families and a reception at the bride's home in the afternoon. The couple departed for a wedding trip to Atlantic City. The bride is a graduate of Altoona High school and Mount Aloysius Junior college and was employed in the office of the Economy Grocers association. The bridegroom is a graduate of Altoona Catholic High school and of the Altoona Undergraduate center and a veteran of World war II, in the submarine service in the Pacific area.
