At 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Annie Catherine De Vore, 2014 Seventh avenue, Miss Jennie Mae De Vore was united in marriage to Edward Calvin Wertz, by the Rev. J. W. Wilt, pastor of the Juniata Park church of the Brethren, the ring ceremony being used. Only the immediate families were in attendance. Mrs. Wertz is a daughter of the late George E. De Vore who enlisted in the U.S. army last January, and died in a base hospital in France, from an attack of pneumonia, September 9. She was employed as a shipping clerk in the Altoona Silk mill for the past five years, and is a popular and highly esteemed young lady. The bridegroom, who formerly lived in Newry, is a well known blacksmith employed in the Fourteenth Street Machine Shops.
