Wintermute In a lovely candlelight ceremony on Saturday evening, June 19, at 7 o'clock in St. Mark's Lutheran church of Williamsport, Miss Betty Jo Opdyke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Opdyke of 827 Park avenue, Williamsport, became the bride of Frederick Myers Wintermute, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Wintermute of 617 Fifth avenue, Juniata, The pastor of the church, Rev. J. Ray Houser, officiated at the impressive single-ring ceremony against a setting of large bouquets of white snapdragons and palms. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a gown of white dotted swiss in a moderate off-the-shoulder style with a full skirt and ruffled train. Her fingertip veil of French illusion fell from a beautiful tiara and she carried a white prayer book with an orchid and white satin streamers intertwined with flowers. Miss Peggy Smith of Williamsport was maid of honor, attired in a yellow dotted swiss gown in an off-the-shoulder pattern with a hoop skirt and yellow mitts. Her bonnet was of yellow dotted swiss with blue delphinium. She carried a muff of blue delphinium with blue streamers. Miss Bunny Broune and Miss Shirley Miller of Williamsport were bridesmaids, attired in gowns of aqua dotted swiss patterned like that of the maid of honor and aqua mitts. They wore matching bonnets with orchid pink delphinium and carried muffs of the same with matching streamers. Ace Ackerman of Durham, Conn., was best man and the ushers were Robert Mauk of Wehnwood and Glenn Butler of Juniata. The organist, Frederick Snell, played favorite tunes and traditional wedding marches. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church which was beautifully decorated with white snapdragons and palms. The organist entertained with music. Guests were present from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Philadelphia and Altoona. After the reception the couple left for a trip to New York city. For traveling the bride chose a navy summer suit with natural accessories. The bride is a graduate of Williamsport High school, class of 1945, and attended Dickinson college. She is employed at the Williamsport hospital. The bridegroom was graduated from Altoona High in 1944 and is attending Pennsylvania State college.
