Battle; A. Warner & Co.; 1887 Falls Township LEWIS ANDERSON hotel-keeper, P.O. Morrisville, was born in Mercer county, N. J., June 1, 1840, being a son of John and Margaret (Hawk) Anderson, natives of New Jersey and of English and German descent. His father was a wheel-wright and had a family of fourteen children, of whom Lewis was the fifth. He was reared in Mercer county, where he attended the common schools. In early life he learned carriage painting as a trade and followed that until 1871, when he embarked in the hotel business at Windsor, N. J., where he continued with success until he was induced to come to Morrisville and take the Robert Morris hotel in 1882. His prompt attention to all the details of the hotel, and also to the wants of his customers, insures him a liberal patronage. He was married in Mercer county, N. J., August 7, 1862, to Sarah Jane, daughter of Arthur R. and Ann Eliza (Hill) Howell. Her parents were of German origin. Their children are: Arthur H., who is employed in the rubber mill, and Ella. Mrs. Anderson is a member of the Baptist church, and her daughter of the Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. Anderson is a member of the Knights of Pythias and an Odd Fellow. In politics he is a republican.
