Battle; A. Warner & Co.; 1887 Doylestown A-L JOHN R. BLACK farmer, P.O. New Britain, was born in Doylestown township on the old homestead where he now lives, in August, 1834, and is a son of Elias and Cynthia (James) Black, natives of Bucks county. His paternal ancestors came from Wales and settled in this county. The farm now owned by our subject has been in the family for about one hundred and fifty years, or for three generations. It is a beautifully located place, and is one of the finest farms in this section of the county. It is well improved, the Black family all being enterprising and progressive. Elias Black was the father of nine children, four of whom are now living: Enos J., Margaret, Elmira, and John R., our subject, who has lived all his life at his present location. He was married January 3, 1881, to Lizzie Dearie, of Philadelphia, whose parents came from Scotland. Mrs. Black is a member of the Baptist church.
