Battle; A. Warner & Co.; 1887 Falls Township WILLIAM H. GILKYSON merchant, P.O. Morrisville, was born in Edgewood, Bucks county, September 30, 1856, and is a son of Amos and Ellen (Howell) Gilkyson, the former a native of this county and of Irish descent. His mother was born in New Jersey and was of English origin. His father was a mason and a contractor and builder, but has retired from business, and resides in Philadelphia. Our subject is the youngest of a family of four children. He was reared in this county, attending the common schools here, and also the commercial college at Trenton, N. J., where he graduated in 1874. He then clerked in a store for one year, subsequently studied telegraphy and followed that as a business for two years and a half on the Pennsylvania railroad, on the New York division. In 1880 he came to Morrisville, and in 1885 embarked in his present business. He is a democrat in politics and has been postmaster since 1885. He has a good trade and his success is due to his own exertions. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity at Trenton, N. J.
