Battle; A. Warner & Co.; 1887 Falls Township WILLIAM G. HOWELL merchant miller, P.O. Morrisville, was born in Trenton, N. J., June 17, 1844, and is a son of James and Adaline (Gillingham) Howell, the latter a native of Morrisville, and of Scotch origin. James Howell, father of William G., was born in New Jersey and was of German origin. He was a cooper in his early life, but later on was a merchant. William G. is the second son of a family of six children. He was reared in Trenton, N. J., where he attended school. Early in life he was employed as a salesman in a dry goods store, and subsequently was employed as a bookkeeper in Trenton for six years. He then embarked in mercantile pursuits and did business in Trenton for six years. In 1870 he embarked in his present business in Trenton, N. J. He is now a member of the firm of Howell & Sons, merchant millers, doing business in Morrisville and Trenton, N. J. He was married in Trenton, in October, 1869, to Susanna, daughter of Charles Worthington, who is of English origin. Their children are: Marion, Walter, Mabel, Thirzia, and Gershom. Mr. and Mrs. Howell are members of the Baptist church, of which he has been a trustee. Mr. Howell served two terms as member of the town council in Trenton, and is now a director of the Broad Street National bank and is a member of the Masons and the I. O. O. F. He is a democrat politically.
