Battle; A. Warner & Co.; 1887 Newtown Township J. PEMBERTON HUTCHINSON conveyancer and civil engineer, P.O. Newtown, was born in Newtown township, October 3, 1843, and is a son of David and Rachel B. (Child) Hutchinson. His paternal grandfather was Thomas Hutchinson, a farmer of Northampton township, whose wife was Sarah Twining, and by whom he had the following children: Elizabeth, Rebecca (Mrs. Chapman Buckman), Thomas (married Esther Smith) and David, who was a physician and a graduate of Jefferson Medical college, of Philadelphia. He began the practice of medicine in Bristol and subsequently removed to Newtown, where he resided until his death, December 31, 1871. He had two children who grew to maturity: Edward S. and J. Pemberton, who was reared in Newtown and educated in the Polytechnic college at Philadelphia. He was graduated in 1865 and went to Colorado, and opened a chemical laboratory and was a mine examiner and also engaged in prospecting for railroads. In 1867 he returned from the west and located in Newtown. He was at first assistant engineer and subsequently chief engineer of the Newtown railroad. He has been engaged in his present business for the past nine years.
