The subject of this sketch was born in Allentown, Pa., December 11, 1829, and is the seventh son of Dewalt and Sydnea (Smith) Kuhns, both of whom were natives of Lehigh county. He received good school advantages and in 1855 begun the study of his profession in Philadelphia under the tutorship of Dr. Robert Jennings; and after completing his course, began practice in Allentown, remaining there until 1860, when he came to Quakertown, where he has since resided, and has been successful in his treatment of all the ailments and diseases to which domestic animals are subject, and is receiving a liberal patronage. He has been thrice married; first, September 30, 1858, to Maria Musselman, who died, leaving four children, three of whom are now living, viz., Keturah, Mena and Justice. His second wife was Sarah Horseman, who died leaving no issue. His present wife is Sallie Fisher, of Philadelphia. The doctor has a grandson, Winfield S., son of Eldah, by her husband, Jonathan Crater, deceased.
