Battle; A. Warner & Co.; 1887 Doylestown A-L HENRY LEAR attorney-at-law, P.O. Doylestown, is a native of the borough, and was born March 21, 1848, being a son of George and Sidney (White) Lear, both natives of Bucks county. His grandfather, Robert, settled on a farm in Bucks county at an early day. George Lear, father of Henry, was highly educated and was admitted to the bar of Bucks county in November, 1844, when in his 26th year, and was a practicing attorney all his life. Henry was educated partly in Doylestown and Philadelphia and graduated at Yale college in 1869. He attended lectures in the law course at the University of Pennsylvania in the winter of 1870-71, and was admitted to the bar September 11, 1871. He is a man of high ability and has won the commendation of all. In June, 1884, he was elected president of the Doylestown National bank. He is also president of the Lahaska Fire Insurance company, and of the Doylestown Mutual Insurance company. He was married June 10, 1875, to Louisa P., daughter of John J. and Julia (Philler) Brock. They are the parents of three sons: John B., George and William P. and one daughter Julia B. Mrs. Lear is a member of the Episcopal church.
