Battle; A. Warner & Co.; 1887 Tinicum Township ELIAS SHULL farmer, P.O. Point Pleasant, is a son of Peter and Catherine (Strouse) Shull. The former was born in Lower Mount Bethel, Northampton county, in 1789, and died in 1861. His wife was born in 1797 and died July, 1859. He came to this county when a boy and lived with Philip Gruver. In 1828 he built and removed to the house in which he died and in which his sons, Elias and Joseph, now live. He was a deacon of the Tinicum Reformed church. His children were: Sarah (deceased), Elizabeth, Catherine, Peter, Tobias, Jacob, Elias and Joseph. Elias was born September 23, 1822, in the old house which formerly stood on the farm and has all his life been a farmer. His brother Joseph, who also lives in the old house, was born December 31, 1829. He is also a farmer. They live together, their sister Catherine keeping house for them. The family are highly respectable, industrious and upright people and are respected accordingly.
