Battle; A. Warner & Co.; 1887 Solebury Township SAMUEL SHUPE blacksmith and farmer, P.O. Carversville, was born in Nockamixon township, February 19, 1835, and is a son of Jacob and Susan (Meyers) Shupe. His grandfather was Jacob Shupe, and his maternal grandfather Henry Meyers, both farmers and early settlers of Tinicum township. Jacob Shupe, Sr., had six children: Solomon, Mary, Henry, Jacob, Jr., Abraham, and Sarah. Jacob, Jr., was a farmer and reared a family of seven children: Elizabeth (Mrs. James Jolley), Catherine (Mrs. Silas Althouse), Joseph, John, Mary A. (Mrs. George Ely), Samuel and Sally (Mrs. William Mason). Samuel was reared in Tinicum township, and in 1859 located in Solebury, where he has followed blacksmithing and farming. He married Charlotte, daughter of George and Sarah (Ott) Mood, of Bedminster township, this county, by whom he has six children living: William, Sally (Mrs. Morris Hellyer), Edwin, John, Libbie and Mary.
