Battle; A. Warner & Co.; 1887 Richland Township N-Z REED C. STROUSE boot and shoe dealer, P.O. Quakertown, is a native of Tinicum township, this county, and was born in 1856. His great-grandfather was Jacob Strouse, who came from Germany. He had a son Jacob, who married Catherine Horwick, who bore him one child, Elias. Elias married Marian Kruger, of Haycock township, this county. This couple were the parents of nine children, four sons and five daughters. Reed C. was reared on a farm and attended the common schools, remaining on the farm till he was 21 years old, when he commenced clerking in a store, which occupation he continued till 1885. He married in 1885 Jennie, daughter of Joseph and Rebecca (Dames) Jefferies, of Chester county, this state. They have no children. In 1885 Mr. Strouse established his present business. He carried a fine line of all kinds of ladies' and men's boots and shoes. He is a member of the Knights of the Golden Eagle and of the Red Men. In politics he is a democrat.
