About 1730, we find settled there; William Edward, Moses Marshall, Moses and Joseph Collins, Joseph Haverford, Richard Thatcher, David Griflee(Griffith), Richard Minturn, James Ross, John Hall and James Willey and I'm sure many more, not one of whom was German. The actual date when each one of these immigrants settled in Tinicum, it is impossible to give, or the place and the quantity of land taken up. Edward Marshall, was an inhabitant at the time and during part of his residence there, made his home on an island in the Delaware, which still bears his name. In 1737 Matthew Hughes took up a track in the lower part of the township. In 1746 he granted forty acres to Adam Meisner, at the upper end of Point Pleasant, then called the "Narrows". A German named Christopher Sigman lived in Tinicum in 1750. The Wolfingers of Tinicum and neighboring townships are descended from Frederick Wolfinger who came with his wife from Germany about 1750. From The History of Bucks County. LOWER TINICUM LOWER TINICUM CHURCH: Transcribed by B. F. Fackenthal, Jr. Riegelsville, Pa. The original church stood on the hill near the abandoned cemetery. It was built of logs, probably in 1747, the "Brick" church, the third structure at that place erected by the Lutheran and Reformed congregations, was destroyed by fire. The denominations then separated, the Lutherans building a new church and the Reformed congregation rebuilding and occupying the Brick Church. The present (1923) date stone as "Lower Tinicum Reformed Church-rebuilt A. D. 1908." The following records are not the complete records available. For further search you can obtain the microfilm from a Family History Center at a minimal cost. CALFE, Samuel H.
