Deed: John Smith to Henry Baker, 1696 To all people before whom these presents shall come know ye that John Smith of the county of Bucks and the province of Pennsylvania blacksmith for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and forty pounds current silver money of the aforesaid province to him in hand paid by Henry Baker of the aforesaid county and province yeoman the receipt whereof the said John Smith doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit and discharge the said Henry Baker his heirs executors & administrators by these presents forever he the said John Smith hath given granted aliened bargained sold enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth clearly and absolutely give grant alien bargain sell enfeoff and confirm unto the said Henry Baker his hers and assigns two several pieces or parcels of land the one beginning at a white oak standing by a meadow side in the corner of Richard Lundys land south south east one hundred twenty eight pole to a corner tree thence south west and by south sixty pole to a corner tree thence west along Randal Balckshaws old line one hundred and thirty pole to a corner tree thence north north west two degrees northerly one hundred and twenty six pole to a chestnut tree standing by the meadow thence north east and by east eighty four pole to the first mentioned corner tree Containing and laid out for one hundred acres of land lying and being in the county of Bucks aforesaid which said land he the said John Smith did purchase from Randal Blackshaw of the aforesaid county as part and parcel of the fifteen hundred acres of land he the said Randel did purchase from James Harrison and was confirmed by indentures of lease and release dated the thirteenth day of the sixth month and the first day of the seventh month 1682 unto the said Randal Blackshaw and his heirs for the consideration therein mentioned and the said one hundred acres of land was confirmed by the said Randal Blackshaw to the said John Smith and his heirs by a deed of conveyance dated the twentieth day of June 1693 for the consideration therein mentioned the other peace or parcel of land begins at a corner post of Christopher Bennetts land thence north east by the same one hundred and twenty perches then south east by east by the said land one hundred thirty six perches thence southwest by the same Bennetts land one hundred and twenty perches thence south east by east by Thomas Wolfes land eighty perches thence north east by north two hundred and thirty perches thence north north west by Richard Lundyes eighty perches thence west and by south sixty perches thence west by said Blackshaws land three hundred and forty perches thence south west sixteen perches thence south east by east by the aforesaid Wolfes land one hundred and forty perches to the place of beginning Containing and laid out for one hundred and ninety acres of land lying and being in the aforesaid county of Bucks which said land was confirmed to John Rowland and his heirs by patent from Samuel Carpenter William Markham Robert Turner John Goodson commissioners under William Penn proprietarie and governor of the aforesaid province for granting lands which patent bears date the eleventh day of February one thousand six hundred ninety two and was confirmed by the said John Rowland to the said John Smith and his heirs by a deed dated the twentieth day of June 1693 for the consideration therein mentioned as also ten acres more granted by said Rowland in said deed to be taken up elsewhere and all the estate right title interest use posession propertie claim and demand whatsoever of him the said John Smith of in and to the said one hundred acres and the said one hundred and ninety acres as above mentioned and the said ten acres as yet unsurveyed or untaken up with the reversions remainders rents issues and profits thereof and of every part and parcel thereof and of all deeds patents writing or other evidences which do concern the said premises alone To have and to hold the said three hundred acres and every part and parcel thereof to the said Henry Baker his heirs and assigns to the only use and behoof of the said Henry Baker his heirs and assigns forever under the yearly rents from hereafter to become due to the proprietarie his heirs and successors and the said John Smith for himself his heirs executors and administrators covenants grants and agrees to and with the said Henry Baker his heirs and assigns by these presents that it shall and may be lawful to and for the said Henry Baker his heirs and assigns at all times forever hereafter to have hold occupy posess and enjoy the above hereby granted premises and every part and parcel for the same without the lawful be such trouble eviction ejection molestation or disturbance of him the said John Smith his heirs executors and administrators or any of them and against himself his heirs executors administrators and every of them and against all ther persons claiming and to claim by from or under him them or any of them the said three hundred acres of land and premises hereby granted with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Henry Baker his heirs & assigns shall and will warrant and by these presents forever defend In witness whereof the said John Smith hath hereunto put his hand and seal the fifteenth day
