Deed: Samuel Burges to Thomas Janney, William Biles, Richard Hough, and Joshua Hoopes, 1690 To all People before whom these presents shall come Know Ye that Samuel Burges of the County of Bucks and Province of Pennsylvania husbandman for the consideration of six shillings current money of the Province aforesaid to him in hand paid by Thomas Janney, William Biles Richard Hough and Joshua Hoopes all of the aforesaid County and Province Yeoman the receipt whereof the said Samuel Burges doth hereby acknowledge and himself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid hath given granted aliened bargained sold enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth absolutely give grant bargain sell enfeoff and confirm unto the said Thomas Janney William Biles Richard Hough and Joshua Hoopes their heirs and assigns a certain piece or parcel of land Situate lying and being in the County of Bucks aforesaid Beginning at a corner marked black oak standing by the road side that leads from the Falls of Delaware towards Southampton from thence South and by East along the said road side thirty two perches thence East and by North thirty perches thence North and by West thirty two perches thence West and by South thirty perches to the first mentioned corner tree being the place of Beginning Containing and laid out for six acres of land. Being part of a tract of land granted and confirmed to the aforesaid Samuel Burges his heirs and assigns by a Deed from John Rowland and Thomas Rowland both of the aforesaid County Yeoman bearing date the first day of the tenth month 1685 and recorded in the Rolls office the tenth day of the twelfth Month of the said year in Book A Vol. 1 page 10-11 To Have and o Hold the said six acres of land and premises with the improvements and appurtenances and every part and parcel of the same to them the said Thomas Janney William Biles Richard Hough and Joshua Hoopes their heirs and assigns forever to the only use and behoof of them the said Thomas Janney William Biles Richard Hough and Joshua Hoopes their heirs and assigns forever under the yearly Quit rent of one grain of Indian corn to the said Samuel Burges his heirs or assigns if by them lawfully demanded And the said Samuel Burges doth covenant and grant for himself and his heirs that they the said land and premises unto them the said Thomas Janney William Biles Richard Hough and Joshua Hoopes and their heirs against the said Samuel Burges and his heirs shall and will warrant and by these presents forever defend. In Witness whereof the said Samuel Burges hath hereunto set his hand and seal the fourth day of the fourth month one thousand six hundred and ninety and the tenth year of the Proprietarys Government Samuel (his seal) Burgess Sealed and Delivered in the presence of us Jacob Janney Enoch Yardley Joseph Stweard Know all men that I the within named Samuel Burges do authorize and appoint William Yardley of the aforesaid County my attorney to deliver and acknowledge the within deed in open Court of the aforesaid County to the within named Thomas Janney William Biles, Richard Hough and Joshua Hoopes or their attorney. In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal the fourth day of the fourth Month 1690 Samuel Burges (seal) Sealed and Delivered before the aforesaid witnesses. (The place of the County seal) The 11th day of the 4th Month 1690 the within conveyance was by William Yardley Attorney to the within named Samuel Burges acknowledged and delivered in open Court in the County of Bucks unto the within named William Biles and Joshua Hoopes for the use as therein expressed.
