Deed: Joseph Kirkbride to Gideon Freeborne, 1696 To all People before whom these presents shall come Joseph Kirkbride of the County of Bucks and province of Pennsylvania Carpenter sends Greeting Whereas William Markham and John Goodson two the proprietarys Commissioners for granting of lands ~~ by their patent of confirmation bearing date the Nineteenth day of the fourth month 1687 granted unto one Thomas Atkinson a certain tract of land in the said County of Bucks Beginning at a corner marked post standing by Job Howells land thence north west by the same and by Arthur Cokes land three hundred and twenty eight perches then north east by a line of trees five hundred and twenty perches then South and by West by a line of trees six hundred and ten perches to the place of Beginning Containing and laid out for five hundred acres granted by a warrant from the said Proprietaries dated the twenty fifth of the sixth month 1684 and laid out by the Surveyor Generals order the twentieth day of the eighth month 1684 unto the said Thomas Adkinson and accordingly confirmed by the patent to the use of him the said Thomas Adkinson his heirs and assigns forever And Whereas the said Thomas Adkinson afterward by his Indenture of bargain and sale bearing date the twelfth day of the eight month 1687 Made between him the said Thomas Adkinson of the one part and the said Joseph Kirkbride of the other part acknowledged in open Court held for the said County of Bucks and Recorded in the Rolls Office here Book A fol. 132 vol 1 did for the consideration therein mentioned grant bargain and sell the said five hundred acres of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Joseph Kirkbride his heirs and assigns forever by the said Indenture and patent aforesaid respectively may appear Now Know Ye that Joseph Kirkbride fro the consideration of fifty pounds of currant money of Pensylvania to him paid by Giddeon Freeborn of Road Island Yeoman the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit exonerate and discharge the said Giddeon Freeborn his heirs executors and assigns forever by these presents hath given granted aliened sold enfeofed and confirmed And hereby doth give grant alien sell enfeoff and confirm unto the said Giddeon Freeborn all and singular the said five hundred acres of land all ways waters liberties privileges improvements and appurtenances whatsoever thereto belonging and reversions and remainders rents and profits thereof and all deeds patents grants evidences and writing concerning the same To Have and To Hold the said five hundred acres of land and all other the premises hereby granted with their appurtenances unto the said Giddeon Freeborn and his heirs to the use of him the said Giddeon Freeborn his heirs and assigns forever Under the yearly Quit rent accrueing to the said proprietary the chief Lord of the fee thereof And the said Joseph Kirkbride and his heirs the said five hundred acres of land and premises with their appurtenances unto the said Giddeon Freeborn and his heirs against him the said Joseph and his heirs and against all others lawfully claiming or to clam by from or under him them or any of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness Whereof the said Joseph Kirkbride hath hereunto set his hand and seal the three and twentieth day of July in the eight year of the reign of King William the third over England Anno Dm 1696 Joseph Kirkbride (seal) Sealed and Delivered in presence of Saml Beaks Wm Crosdell Bucks ss (the County seal) The 9th day of the 7th month 1696. The within conveyance was by the within named Joseph Krikbride acknowledged and delivered in open Court of the aforesaid County unto Phineas Pemberton for the use of the within named Giddeon Freeborn Certified under my hand and County seal Phineas Pemberton Co Com Recorded the 1 day of the 8 month 1696 Know all men by these presents that I Randel Blackshaw of the County of Bucks and Province of Pennsylvania Yeoman do authorize constitute and appoint my well beloved friend Phineas Pemberton my true and lawful attorney & in my place and stead to acknowledge and deliver one Ded in open Court to Joseph Kirkbride and one to Ralph Cowgill my son in law and hererby do ratify allow and confirm the same as fully as I were present to do it myself.
