Deed: Thos Atkinson to Joseph Kirkbride, 1687 This Indenture Made the twelfth day of the Eighth month 1687 and third year of the Reign of James the second over England &c King Between Thomas Atkinson of the County of Bucks and Province of Pennsylvania Yeoman of the one part and Joseph Kirkbride of the County and Province aforesaid Carpenter on the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of thirty five ponds current money of Pennsylvania to him the said Thomas Adkinson in hand paid by the said Joseph Kirkbride the receipt whereof the said Thomas Adkinson doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit exonerate and discharge the said Joseph Kirkbride his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever by these presents he the said Thomas Adkinson hath given granted aliened bargained sold enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth absolutely give grant alien bargain sell enfeoff and confirm unto the said Joseph Kirkbride his heirs and assigns a certain piece or parcel of land Situate lying and being in the County of Bucks aforesaid Beginning at a corner marked post standing by Jobe Howells thence North West by the same and by Arthur Cooks land three hundred twenty eight perches thence North East by a line of trees five hundred and twenty perches thence South and by West by a line of trees six hundred and ten perches to the place of Beginning containing and laid out for five hundred acres of land granted by a warrant from the Proprietary and governor of the aforesaid Province bearing date the twenty first day of the Sixth Month 1684 and laid out by the Surveyor Generals Order the twentieth day of the Eighth month next following unto the said Thomas Adkinson and now in posession of the said Thomas Atkinson by virtue of a patent of Confirmation bearing date the Nineteenth day of the Fourth month 1687 granted to the said Thomas Adkinson his heirs and assigns by William Markham and John Goodson the Proprietarys Commissioners for granting Lots and lands and all the estate right title interest property claim and demand of him the said Thomas Adkinson of in and to the five hundred acres of land with their appurtenances together with their said Letters Patents To Have and to hold the said five hundred acres of land with the appurtenances and every part and parcel of the same and the aforesaid Letters Patents to him the said Joseph Kirkbride his heirs and assigns forever to the only use and behoof of the said Joseph Kirkbride his heirs and assigns forever Yielding and paying to the Chief Lord of the soil of the said land and premises the yearly rents due or to become due and to become due at and upon such days and places as shall be for that end and purpose appointed And the said Thomas Adkinson doth covenant and grant for himself and his heirs that they the said lands and premises unto him the said Joseph Kirkbride and his heirs against the said Thomas Atkinson and his heirs shall and will warrant and defend by these presents for ever. And this Indenture further witnesseth that the said Thomas Adkinson hath by these presents for himself and his heirs made constituted and ordained and by the tenor hereof doth make constitute and ordaine Robert Done of the said county and Province Planter to be his lawful Attorney for him and in his stead to appear in open Court in the aforesaid County of Bucks and there in presence of the said Court to acknowledge and deliver this present Indenture to the said Joseph Kirkbride or his attorney according to law. In witness whereof the parties first above mentioned to these presents have to these present Indentures their hands and seals interchangeably set and put the day and year first above written.
