Deed: Henry Baker to Stephen Wilson, 1697 To all people before whom these presents shall come know ye that Henry Baker of the county of Bucks and province of Pennsylvania yeoman for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds current silver money of the aforesaid province to him in hand paid by Stephen Wilson of the said county and province yeoman the receipt whereof the said Henry Baker doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit and discharge the said Stephen Wilson his heirs executors and administrators forever he the said Henry Baker hath given granted aliened bargained sold and by these presents confirmed unto the said Stephen Wilson his heirs and assigns a certain parcel of land lying in Newtown in the said county beginning at a great black oak standing by the way side or road thence west and by north twenty perches thence west twenty one degrees southerly two hundred ninety perches to a tree by the river Neshaminah being a corner of Stephen Twinings land thence by the several courses of the said river two hundred perches to the corner of the said Twinings meadow thence north seventeen degrees east seventy eight perches to a corner thence east forty degrees south eighty six perches to a corner thence east and by north to a tree standing by the side of New towne riverlet thence by the several courses of the said riverlet to the place of beginning Containing and laid out for two hundred fifty two acres of land which said land is part of five hundred acres of land granted to Thomas Rowland and his heirs by patent from James Claypole Robert Turner Commissioners of William Penn proprietarie and governor of the aforesaid province for granting lands dated the 15th day of the fourth month one thousand six hundred eighty-five and after the decease of the said Thomas Rowland descended to John Rowland only brother and heir to the said Thomas and by the said John Rowland was granted to the aforesaid Henry Baker and his heirs by deed poll dated the 8th day of the 10th month 1691 for the consideration therein mentioned and all the estate right title interest use possession propertie claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Henry Baker of in and to the said two hundred fifty two acres of land with the reversions remainder's rents issues and profits thereof and all deeds writings patents or other evidences concerning the same To have and to hold the said two hundred and fifty two acres of land and premises with all privileges and improvements and other the appurtenances and advantages to the said Stephen Wilson and his heirs to the only use and behoof of him the said Stephen Wilson his heirs and assigns forever under the yearly rents due or to become due to the said proprietarie his heirs and successors and the said Henry Baker doth covenant promise and grant for himself and his heirs that they the said two hundred fifty two acres of land and premises to him the said Stephen Wilson his heirs and assigns against him the said Henry Baker and his heirs and against all other persons claiming and to claim by from or under them or any of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In witness whereof the said Henry Baker hath hereunto set his hand and seal the first day of the eight month one thousand six hundred ninety seven 1697 Henry Baker (seal) Sealed and delivered in the presence of Saml Beaks Saml Darke Richard Hough The 1st day of the 8th month 1697 received the full of the within mentioned consideration money from the within named Stephen Wilson by me Testis Henry Baker Bucks ss (County seal) The 8th day of the 10th month 1697 the within conveyance was by the within named Henry Baker delivered in open court unto the within Named Stephen Wilson Certified under my hand and county seal Phineas Pemberton Co Com
