The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Thomas James Dated March 14, 1772 Proved April 13, 1772 In the name of God amen the fourteenth Day of March the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Two, I Thomas James of the township of New Brittain in the County of Bucks and Province of Pennsylvania yeoman being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory Blessed be God for the Same Therefore Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die-Do make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament principally-and first of all I give and Recomend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it hopeing for the forgiveness of all my Sins through the infinite merrits of our lord Jesus and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian and Decent Like manner at the Discretion of my Excutors herein after named not Doubting but at the General Resuraction I Shall Receive the Same again by the almighty power of God and Touching Such Worthy Estate wherewith God hath been pleased to Bless me with in this Life I give Devise and Dispose of the Same in the following manner Imprimis any will in and I Do order that all my Just Debts and funeral Charges be Duly paid and Discharged Item I give and bequeath to my friend John Williams and James Evans both of New Brittain yeoman or to the Survivor of them the Sum of five pounds Pennsylvania Curency in Trust and for the use to Support the Gospel in the Baptist Church Mettin in New Brittain for Ever and for no other use-to be paid to them or the Survivor of them at the Expiration of three years after my Decease Item I Give and Bequeath to my son James James the Sum of Ten pounds Pennsylvania Curency also my Horse and Saddle Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Son Samuel James a bond which I have against him-Conditions for the payment of the Sum of Twenty pounds with its Interest which Bond I will so be void at my Decease Item I give to my Son Thomas James my best Suit of Cloaths to be Delivered imediately after my Decease Item I Give and Bequeath to my Son Thomas James the Sum of five pounds Pennsylvania Curency in Special Trust that he Shall Divide the Same Equally amongest all his Children Item I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Aaron the Sum of Ten pounds Pennsylvania Curency also my Case of Drawers and my Book Called the Divine poems of the Reverend Wm Rees Prichard Item I Give and Bequeath unto Son John James the Sum of Twenty pounds and the Remainder of my Wearing and the Remainder of my Books Item I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Rachel Shewel the Sum of Five pounds Pennsylvania Curency Item I give and Bequeath to my Grand Daughter Margaret James (by my Son John James) my feather bed and all its furniture also my Chest round Table and warming pan Item I give to my Grandson Benjamin James by my Son John James my Large Brass pan Item I give to my Said Son John James all the remainder of my Estate Remaining after paying my Just Debts funeral Charges and the Legaries above mentioned Item I Do hereby nominate Constitute and Ordain my Said Son John James to be Sole Exector of this my Last Will and Testament and I Do hereby utterly Revok Disanul and disallow all and Every other and former will and Testament by me in anywise before this Time made Ratefying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament in Witnes whereof I have herunto Set my hand and Seal Dated the Day and year first above written. his Thomas X James mark Signed Sealed published and declared by the Said Thomas James as and for his Last will and Testament in the presents of us John James William James David Evans The spelling is as accurate according to the will as I could read it.
