Written: June 5, 1760 Recorded: June 9, 1760 Will of Andrew Kelso In the name of God, Amen. This 5th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty, I, Andrew Kelso, of Bedminister Township, Bucks County, being weak in body but of perfect sound mind and memory, thanks be to God, therefore, calling to mind the uncertainty of this life, and the certainty of death, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as followeth. First, I recommend my soule [sic] into the hands of God, my merciful creator and redeemer, and my body to the earth from whence it came, decently for to be buried at the discretion of mine executor, hereafter named, whom I desire for to pay all my just debts and legacies where I owe and now touching such worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased the Lord for to bless my endeavors, I devise and dispose of the same as followeth, viz: Imprimis, I give and bequeath unto my loving wife, Sarah Kelso, one bed and furniture, thereon belonging, and one cow and 2 small iron pots. It is my will that my executor shall make a public sale of all my estate, excepting what is here already mentioned, as soon as they shall see fit to such persons as they see fit for to buy and pay all my just debts and funeral expenses and the remainder __________ money they shall divide in eight equal parts, share and share alike. One part to my loving wife Sarah, and one equal part to Robert, and one equal part to my daughter Jane, and one part to my daughter Mary, and one part to my son John, and one part to my daughter Allse, and one part to my daughter Elizabeth, and one part to my daughter Margaret Kelso. Each for to have an equal share. It is my will that my sons shall be put out for trades as they like best. And last of all, I do hereby nominate and appoint my loving wife Sarah Kelso and my loving brother George Kelso, sole executors of this my last will and testament, denying all other wills and testaments, and this alone and no other. Andrew Kelso (seal) Signed, sealed and declared to be his last will and testament in the presence of this, the subscribers, Charles Stewart, William Nash. The 9th day of June Anno Domini 1760 there appeared Charles Stewart and William Nash, the witnesses to the within written will and the said Charles Stewart upon his solemn affirmation and the said William Nash upon his solemn affirmation did favorably swear and affirm that they were present and saw Andrew Kelso, the testator, sign, seal, publish and declare the within writing to be his last will and testament, and that at that doing thereof, he was of sound mind, memory and understanding. To the best of that knowledge before me come Rich. Gibbs Deputy Regr. By virtue of a commission from the Regr. General And by the directions of said General Dep. Regr. Be it remembered that on the 9th day of June Anno Domini 1760, this last will and testament of Andrew Kelso, deceased, was duly proved according to law and probate, and letters testamentary were granted to Sarah Kelso and George Kelso, executors, in the same will named, they being first solemnly sworn well and faithfully to diminish ______ goods and chattels, rights and credits of the said deceased and to exhibit a sound and perfect inventory thereof unto the Registers Office for the said County of Bucks in one month after the date hereof and a just and true account of that administration when thereunto rejoined to rendered.
