He (John) was born in Scotland and settled in Mifflin County in pioneer days. From Mifflin County, James Anderson, the great grandfather, came to Butler County, in 1804, settling in the neighborhood of Six Points, where he erected two grist mills, the first ever built in that section." (reference, p. 1185) John Anderson & Margaret Cook John moved from Juniata county in 1801 to northern Butler County along with at least one son, James. I believe John is buried in Lowe cemetery which is the old Scrubgrass Presbyterian cemetery. His dates would be b. 1734, d. 1813 per cemetery records. So far I have not located Margaret. James Anderson (b. 27 Jan 1761, d.19 Jan 1842) & Janet Bailey Came from Tuscarora Valley, Lack Twsp., Juniata County in 1801. They moved to Slippery Rock, then Venango Co (1804). In 1814 they bought 460 acres of land for $2100, paying $300 in cash and the rest in whisky. In 1827 his son built the stucco covered stone house still in use near Clintonville. His son operated a distillery on the farm. The fine quality of "Scrubgrass whiskey" was known throughout the area. Son of John Anderson & Margaret Cook. Still searching for other brothers or sisters in either Butler, Venango or Juniata Counties. Children of James and Janet Sarah (b. ,d. ) Margaret (b. ,d. ) married Levi Gibson of Wash. twsp. It was sold to David Phipps in 1848. Thomas Anderson (b. 1793, d.16 Dec 1865) & Elizabeth Grant (b. 1795, d. 25 Jan 1871) Thomas is in Lowe cemetery in Butler County.
