Sinr(???) of Mercer Township, Butler County, and State of Pennsylvania, being weak of body, but sound of mind, memory, and understanding, praise be to God for the same, considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and to the end I may be the better prepared to leave this world whenever it shall please God to call me hence., do therefore make and declare this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say: First and principally, I commend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God, my Creator, and as to such estate as it hath pleased God to intrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows, viz: First, I do will and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Anna, her living out of the effects of my estate, and the controll of the house we now occupy, or the part we are now occupying during her natural life, and I also will and bequeath to my daughter, Margaret Humphrey, or her heirs, five dollars to be paid after my decease. And also I will and bequeath to my son, William, one hundred dollars to be paid him one year after my decease. I also will and bequeath to my son, John, seventeen acres of land lying in Wolf Creek Township, being part of tract of donation land and in the Third Donation District. No. 464. which he now possesses or occupies. I also will and bequeath unto my daughter, Eliz. Ann, thirty acres of land, more or less, lieing in Mercer Township, Butler County, and State aforesaid, adjoining lands with James Brown on the east, commencing at the northeast corner of my place, running south to the first fence, running east and west, thence along said fence west to the lane running north and south, thence north until the next fence, thence east along said fence until it comes opposite the lane running south from R. Dunwoodys, thence running with said lane till Robert Dunwoodys line fence, east along the line to the place of commencement. And my said daughter Eliz. Ann to have possesion of, and from my decease, and also she is to have all of my household furniture, Beads and bedding, and to have the part of my house I now occupy as hers, so long as she remains single. And my son, Hugh, to pay her eight hundred dollars as follows:. One hundred dollars a year until paid, payments to commence ONE year after my death, and he is to winter her two cows on the place and pasture them and board her on the place. And I also will and bequeath to my son, Hugh, the remainder of my land with all my stock, farming utensils, money credits, and buildings. And he is to keep his mother as long as she lives, and pay all my just debts. Lastly, I appoint my neighbor, Alex Brown to be the executor of this, my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former and other wills made by me. In witness Whereof. Registers Office, January 31 A.D. 1867 Then personally appeared before me, the subscriber, Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting letters of Administrations in and for the County of Butler, Alexander Brown and Joseph Brown, the subscribing witnesses to the above and foregoing last Will and Testament of Hugh Gill, deceased, who being duly sworn according to law, did say that they were present and did see and hear Hugh Gill of Mercer Twsp, deceased, the testator therein named, sign, seal, publish, pronounce, and declare the above and foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and that at the doing thereof , he was of sound disposing mind, memory, and understanding to the best of our knowledge and belief, and at his request and in his presence and the presence of each other, sign our names thereunto as witness.
