Williams from the handwritten text] 352 September Term 1845 ------------------- Petition of ) To the Honorable the Court of Samuel Baxter \ Common Pleas of Cambria County for / in the Commonwealth of Pennsyl- Naturalization ) vania, The petition of Samuel Baxter of Wales, humbly Showeth that your petitioner is a native of North Wales and was heretofore a subject of Victoria Queen of Great Britain & Ireland, and that he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States of America for five years, and within the State of Pennsylvania one year, and that two years prior to this application, that is to say on the 5th day of July 1843 at a Court of Common Pleas in and for Cambria Coy., your petitioner declared his intention of becoming a Citizen of the United States in the manner required by law, as in and by Natura- lization Docket Vol. 2 page 134 appears, that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and forever abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign princes, potentate and sovereignty whatever, and partic- ularly to Victoria Queen of Great Britain and Ireland whereof he was heretofore a subject. Your petitioner there- fore prays that he may be admitted to become a Citizen of the United States of America. Samuel Baxter 353 I Saml. Baxter do swear, that the facts set forth in this my petition are true that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate and sovereignty whatever, and particularly do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure forever all allegiance and fidelity to Victoria Queen of Great Britain and Ireland whereof I was heretofore a subject. Jones & Thomas Todd citizens of the United States and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, do swear that the pe- titioner Saml. Baxter has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States of America five years, and within the state of Pennsylvania one year, that is to say, he the said Samuel Baxter resided in Cambria County in the State of Pennsylvania, all which places are within and under the jurisdiction of the United States, and that during his residence within the United States, he has behaved as a man of good moral char- acter, attached to the Constitution of the United States and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.
