The petition of Alexander Mitchell That your petitioner is a native of Ireland and was theretofore a subject of the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland and that he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States of America for five years and within the State of Pennsylvania one year and that two years prior to the application, that is to say, on the Ninth day of January A. D. 1850 at a Court of Common Pleas of Cambria County your petitioner declared his intention of becoming a citizen of the United States in the manner required by law, as in and by Naturalization Docket Vol. 3 Page 112--appears that he will support the Constitution of the United States and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and forever abjure all allegiances and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate and Sovereignty whatever and particularly to the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland ,whereof he was heretofore a subject, your petitioner therefore prays that he may be admitted to be come a citizen of the United States of America. Alexander Mitchell I, Alexander Mitchell, do swear that the facts set forth in this my petition are true and that I will support the Constitution of the United States and that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate and Sovereignty whatever and particularly do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure forever all allegiance and fidelity to the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland whereof I was subject. X his mark Sworn and subscribed in open court John Cunningham this 6th day of July A. D. 1853 Matthew Mitchell R. L. Johnston, Proty. We, John Cunningham and Matthew Mitchell, citizens of the United States and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, do swear that the petitioner, Alexander Mitchell, has resided within the limits and under the State of Pennsylvania one year, that is to say, he the said Alexander Mitchell has resided five years and upwards in the State of Pennsylvania which place is within and under the Constitution of the United States, And that during his residence within the United State he has behaved as a man of good moral, character attached to the Constitution of the United States and will disposed to the good order and happiness of the same Sworn and subscribed in open court X his mark this 6th day of July A.
