This is a copy of the Lomman family history recently discovered in Mechanicsburg. It is not word for word. May 14, 1877 by George A. D. At that time my granfather, Jonathan Franklin, was 17 years of age and he labored here some years. His occupation in life was a mason and well digging. He married Miss Mary Woodward of Irish descent. Her father's name was John Woodward, born 1766. He grew to be a man and learned to manufacture glass and look for himself a wife by the name of Miss Epply of German descent. After marriage but a short time, he went in search of employ. He first went to Pittsburgh and he stayed. Further west and was drown in the Ohio River. My father, Emanuel Lomman, was not yet born, and his mother died when he was 3 days old, which was in 1819. He was raised by his uncle, Mr. Epply in York County, Pa. Near New Cumberland. He came to Mechanicsburg at the age of 15 years and learned the painting trade with Mr. John Bannaster?. In 1842 he married Miss Sarah Franklin, my mother, and the names of our family are George, Johathan W., Bryan, Edward, Emanuel, and Albert. My father at the present time is living. My mother is buried in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery near Mechanicsburg. I went to Cambria County, Pa, in 1867 and learned to know Miss Margaret Keith, whom I married and her parents are of German Decent. My children's names are as follows: Daniel, Sarah, James Bryon and Nora Emma Lomman. My occupation in life and my father also was house painting &furniture finishing.
