The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ___________________________________________________________ Declaration for Invalid Pension Andrew Sarlouis State of Penna, County of Cambria On this 11th day of April A.D. 1992 personally appeared before me A alderman (Patrick Graham) within and for the County and State aforesaid Andrew Sarlous aged 60 (in the records I am registered too young), a resident of the City of Johnstown county of Cambria, State of Penna, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Andrew Sarlouis who was enrolled on the 17th day of February 1864 in Co, F 21st Regt, Penna Cavy Vol. In the war of the Rebellion, and served at least ninety days, and was honorably discharged at Lynchburg, VA, on the 8th day of July 1865. That he is now unable to earn a support by reason of rupture, rheumatism, great pain which I think originates from the rupture, a great many troubles I can?t name. I can?t do any labour without pain.That said disabilities are not due to vicious habits, and are, to the best of his knowledge and belief, permanent. That he has not applied for pension under application No.________. That he has not been in U.S. Service in either army or navy since the 8th day of July 1865. That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under provisions of the Act of June 27, 1890. That his post office address is 70 Morris street, Johnstown, county of Cambria, State of Penna. Nesbit Declaration for Original Pension of a Widow State of Pennsylvania, County of Cambria On this 16th day of February, A.D., 1901, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public within the County and State aforesaid Elizabeth Sarlouis = nee Brown, aged 66 years, a resident of 518 Franklin St., Johnstown, Cambia county, Pa., who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension provided by act of congress granting pensioners to widows, approved June 27, 1890, to wit: That she is the widow of Andrew Sarlouis who served during the late war of the Rebellion under the name of Andrew Sarlouis from the 17th day of February, A.D. 1864, to the 8th day of July A.D. 1865 as a Corporal in Co. F 21st Penna. Cavalry and who was honorably discharged from the service at Lynchburg, Virginia on July 8, 1865 and who died of Asthma on the 12th day of January A.D. 1901, at Johnstown, Penna., that she is without other means of support than her daily labor; that she was married under the name of Elizabeth Brown to said Andrew Sarlouis on the 25th day of May A. D. 1858, by the Rev. P. Leo O.S.B. German Catholic Church at Johnstown, Cambria County, Penna, there being no legal barrier to such marriage; that neither she nor her husband had been previously married and was never divorced but lived together as man and wife until his death on January 12th 1901, that she has to the present remained his widow; that the following are the names and dates of birth of all his legitimate children who are under sixteen years of age at the present time: No children under 16. That she has not in any manner been engaged in, aided or abetted the rebellion in the United States; that the no. of her husbands certificate is 892.768.
