The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ___________________________________________________________ MILITARY: Revolutionary War Pension Application Abstract, John PLATT, Cambria Co., PA "State of Pennsylvania, County of Cambria, Ss: Be it known that on this First day of July 1844 before me James Kennedy, a Justice of the peace in and for the County aforesaid, personally appeared John Storm of lawful age, and a person of known credibility, who being first duly sworn in due form of law, on his oath says and deposes that he is well acquainted with John Platt a resident of said County of Cambria, the above named applicant for a United States Pension. That from the age of this affiant, which is now forty eight years, he believes the applicant John Platt is or may be of ninety or more years, at all event J. Platt must be a very old man. That as far back as twenty five years, at least, he heard said John Platt and his Grandfather Ludwig (Lewis) Wysong, since dec'd. conversing of their services as soldiers in the War of the revolution. This affiant distinctly recollects to have heard the said John Platt and the said Ludwig Wysong his (Storm's) grandfather converse together on the subject of their respective services in the Army of the Revolution, and he heard both of them recount their services, as such, separately from each other. The said John Platt and the grandfather of this affiant were distant cousins. Jn Platt's first wife, having been a half sister of sd. Ludwig Wysong. Affiant states further on his oath, that as far back as his recollection reaches, it is the general belief of the county that the said John Platt was a soldier in the revolution, and served as he states, and in this belief he fully concurs.
